Tapered at the Ends
It takes years of experience as a cooper to ensure air tight fits from precise hoop pressure using barrel sizers and accurate joinery of the wood staves.
We use a proprietary system that matches the staves , since each one is unique, by calculating the angles, bevels and the tapers for every one of them, to make a perfect circle.
We also use a unique system of steaming to make the staves pliable enough to bend them into the barrel shape; wider in the middle, tapered at the ends.
